Known issues

Do not install a retail version of Easy Media Creator over a trial version.

If you have a trial version of Easy Media Creator installed on your computer, do not install a retail version of Easy Media Creator over it. If you do, MyDVD Express will not launch. Before installing the retail version of Easy Media Creator, first uninstall the trial version. Then, you can install the retail version without any problems.

After installing Easy Media Creator 9, you may be unable to read CDs or DVDs

This issue appears to be caused by a conflict between a Roxio feature called RXFilter and certain anti-virus software. If you have this issue, you can correct it by disabling RXFilter. RXFilter lets you access data on compressed or encrypted disc sets directly from Windows Explorer instead of having to use Roxio Retrieve. After disabling RXFilter, you will need to use Roxio Retrieve instead to read compressed or encrypted data discs created in Creator Classic.

To disable RXFilter, download and run this utility:
http://tools.roxio.com/support/c9/rx/rxfix.exe

To re-enable RXFilter, download and run this utility:
http://tools.roxio.com/support/c9/rx/rxenabler.exe

After either of these utilities is run, you must restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Custom installations and Drag-to-Disc

You may not have the option to install the suite without Drag-to-Disc. If you wish, Drag-to-Disc can be uninstalled separately after the suite has been installed.

Incorrect system date setting causes "invalid CD Key" message during installation

If the date on your computer is set earlier than the actual date, the installation program will report that the CD Key you entered during installation is invalid and will not allow you to install the program. To proceed, correct your system date by double-clicking on the clock in your Windows taskbar and then try the installation again.

System scan after initial installation may temporarily slow system

You may notice slightly degraded system performance for several minutes after you first install Easy Media Creator (but not subsequently) while an initial scan of your system occurs to allow Media Manager to index and display your media files.

Matrox Millennium G550 graphics card is not supported

Due to limited capabilities of this card, it is not supported for Easy Media Creator. Using this graphics card with Easy Media Creator will cause undesirable results, in particular with the video-centric components VideoWave, MyDVD, SlideShow Assistant, and CineMagic.

How to enable Direct Memory Access (DMA) for your disc drives

DMA must be enabled on your computer to install some of the components of your software suite. If DMA is not enabled, you will be notified during product installation. Follow the steps below to enable DMA:

Windows 2000

  2. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.
  3. Double-click System Tools, and then Double-click Device Manager.

  5. Click the controller that you want to configure.

Do not install MyDVD 6 if Easy Media Creator 9 is already installed.

Installing MyDVD 6 on a computer with Easy Media Creator 9 already installed on it causes conflicts that prevent the computer from restarting properly.

Error message when removing products from a Windows Vista PC

When you remove some applications from a Windows Vista PC, you may receive an error message which states that an unidentified program wants access to your computer. This is a known issue with Windows Vista. Click Allow to continue with the uninstall. The application will be removed without further issues.
