Known issues

Matrox Millennium G550 graphics card is not supported

Due to the limited capabilities of this card, it is not supported for this application. Using this graphics card with MyDVD will cause undesirable results.

Do not change the rendering mode from Software to Hardware in the MyDVD Application Settings

The installation process analyzes your video card, to determine whether it supports Hardware rendering mode. If your video card supports Hardware mode, the installation process automatically sets the mode to Hardware; if it does not, the installation process sets the mode to Software.

If the installation process set the mode to Software, do not change it to Hardware. If you try to use Hardware mode when it is not supported by your video card, MyDVD may not run properly.

Some icons are grayed out and do not become accessible

MyDVD includes several grayed-out icons which were not removed in time for this Release. These icons provide no functionality and can be ignored.

You cannot change the project type for an existing project

When you start MyDVD, it opens with a new DVD project by default. If you create a project, and then decide to change the project type, you will have to re-create the project. To create a project other than a DVD project, select the correct project type from the File > New Project menu before beginning work on your project.

Menu thumbnails in MyDVD are not updated.

You can use the Edit Movie feature in MyDVD to edit a movie. However, if you do, the menu thumbnail is not updated. For example, if you use Edit Movie to add an overlay or a video effect to a movie, the change does not appear in the thumbnail. If you want the movie thumbnail to be updated, use VideoWave to make change the movie and output it as a video file.

In Plug & Burn, when a capture is cancelled, the resulting disc cannot be used to burn other projects

When you click Capture now or Capture entire tape in Plug & Burn, the assistant begins burning the taped footage to the disc. If you click Cancel, the resulting incomplete disc cannot be used to burn another project. You can, however, use Plug & Burn to finish the incomplete burn. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Reinsert the incomplete disc.
  2. Start Plug & Burn.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click Finish.

"Select video device failed" or "Operation 'Build'..." error occurs.

Plug & Burn cannot capture from some video devices if the ehRecvr process is enabled. To disable the process, follow these steps:

  1. From the Start menu, choose Run.
  2. Type "net stop ehrecvr" and click OK.

Plug & Burn does not support high definition video devices

Plug & Burn does not support high definition video cameras or other high definition video devices. The image resolution for high definition video devices is greater than the maximum resolution supported for DVD (720x480 or 720x576).

.MOV files do not play in MyDVD or other Roxio components

Roxio components require QuickTime 7.04 to play .MOV files. To solve this problem, upgrade QuickTime on your computer.

Support of MPEG-4 (.MP4) video files is not included with MyDVD

To add support for these files for MyDVD, you must obtain and install a 3rd party MPEG-4 codec, such as QuickTime, 3ivx, DivX, or XviD.

Analyzing color for a video clip takes a long time

When analyzing the color in a video clip, VideoWave analyzes the entire media file, not just the selected scene. As a result, the first time you analyze color for a video clip, the analysis may take a long time (depending on the size of the clip). This approach ensures that, if you later adjust the video clip in and out points to show more of the clip, the new section will also be color-corrected. Note: If you subsequently analyze another scene in the same video clip, the analysis time will be very short.

Video files require transcoding

Some file formats require transcoding (conversion) before they can be used in MyDVD. When prompted to transcode a file, click OK to convert it.

MyDVD hangs during editing of DivX files

This error can occur if your display driver is not up-to-date. To resolve this problem, go to the manufacturer's web site to obtain the latest display driver.

Blue Screen or Crash occurs while working with Windows Media Video content (WMV) files

This error occurs if your Graphics card supports DirectX Video Acceleration of WMV content, and your Windows Media Player software is not up-to-date. To make sure that your Windows Media Player software (version 10), is up-to-date, follow these steps:

  1. In Windows Media Player, choose Help > Check for Player Updates. Follow the instructions to install the updates.
  2. Install the update for Windows Media Digital Rights Management-enabled players. For more information, see http://www.support.microsoft.com/kb/891122/.
  3. Install the fix to enable DirectX Video Acceleration of Windows Media Video (WMV) content in Windows Media Player 10. For more information, see http://www.support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;888656.

Thumbnails in the Production Editor are not updated when photos or video clips are moved

If you move or rename a photo or video clip that is used in the currently open production, the thumbnails are not updated to show that the photo or video clip is missing, and the Tools > Browse for Missing Files command remains unavailable. After moving or renaming files, close the project, and re-open it. MyDVD will recognize that files are missing, and you will be able to Browse for Missing Files.

Updates to the Roxio documentation

Maximum number of video files in a DVD-Video project

The Online Help incorrectly states that 99 video files can be added to a DVD-Video project. In fact, the maximum number of video files supported is 98.

Auto-color correction

Auto-color cannot be applied to photos, and it cannot be applied to multiple video clips at the same time. You must correct the color of each video clip individually.

Outputting movies to the Sony Playstation Portable

The Make Movie dialog provides several templates (Sony PSP AVC/AAC) that allow you to output your movies to the Sony Playstation Portable (PSP). After generating the movie, you must copy it to your PSP memory stick. Follow these steps:

  1. Connect the PSP to a USB port on your computer using a USB cable. (Select the "USB Connection" option in the Settings on your PSP.)
  2. After your computer detects the PSP, copy the generated movie files into the 100ANV01 folder (which stores H.264 (AVC)-encode files), located in the root folder (MP_ROOT) of the PSP memory stick. Make sure that the file names are in the format MAQxxxxx.mp4, where xxxxx is a 5-digit number that is greater than 0. (Be sure to use the correct folder structure and file names, so that the device can detect and play the video files.)
  3. Press Back on the PSP to break the USB connection.
  4. To view the movies, navigate to the movie file on the memory stick.

Note: The video files will not be supported if you copy them to the 100MNV01 folder. This folder only handles MP4 files with an MPEG-4 video stream, not an AVC video stream.

Handling of native audio in CineMagic

In CineMagic, native audio is stripped out of your video clips in order to create your CineMagic movie. The native audio is replaced by the background audio you select.

Note: If you do not select background audio, your movie will have no sound.
