QuickTime installation fails if User Account Control is enabled

Some application features require that QuickTime be installed on your computer. If you need QuickTime, you will be prompted to download it and install it from the Apple Web site. When you download QuickTime, you will be prompted, "Do you want to run or save this file?" If you click Run, and if you have User Account Control enabled in Windows Vista, the installation will fail. To install the QuickTime software, click Save, and save it to your computer first. Then run the installation file saved on your computer.

VideoWave fails to launch if an audio device is not connected

VideoWave may fail to launch on a computer running Windows Vista, if that computer does not have a connected audio output device. To resolve this problem, connect an audio output device (such as speakers or headphones) to the computer, and then start VideoWave again.

Matrox Millennium G550 graphics card is not supported

Due to the limited capabilities of this card, it is not supported for this application. Using this graphics card with VideoWave will cause undesirable results.

Radeon x1800 CrossFire Edition card with drivers up to 17 May 2007 (8.380.0.0) is not supported

Using this card with drivers dated May 17, 2007 or earlier results in corrupted output files. VideoWave does not currently support this card.

Do not change the rendering mode from Software to Hardware in the VideoWave Application Settings

The installation process analyzes your video card to determine whether it supports Hardware rendering mode. If your video card supports Hardware mode, the installation process automatically sets the mode to Hardware; if it does not, the installation process sets the mode to Software.

If the installation process set the mode to Software, do not change it to Hardware. If you try to use Hardware mode when it is not supported by your video card, VideoWave may not run properly.

Some icons are grayed out and do not become accessible

VideoWave includes several grayed-out icons which were not removed in time for this release. These icons provide no functionality and can be ignored.

The Settings pane cannot be docked

VideoWave does not allow you to dock the Settings pane at screen widths of 1024 or less, and screen heights of 768 or less. If you are unable to dock the Settings pane, increase the display resolution.

Images cannot be extracted from a movie file, or image quality is poor

VideoWave can only extract images from movie files that are seekable--that is, with identifiable individual frames. Some files, such as some MPEG files downloaded from the Internet, are not seekable, and VideoWave cannot extract images from these files, or the images, if extracted, are of poor quality. If image extraction fails, or if image quality is poor, use VideoWave to output the movie as an MPEG, and then try again.

Applying Pan & Zoom effects to photos reduces image quality

Applying Pan & Zoom effects to photos may result in a slight reduction in image quality, if the images are output to a video file or DVD (as this results in slightly higher compression). If you are saving a slideshow as a video file or DVD, and photo clarity is your highest concern, then do not use the Pan & Zoom effect.

Analyzing color for a video clip takes a long time

When analyzing the color in a video clip, VideoWave analyzes the entire media file, not just the selected scene. As a result, the first time you analyze color for a video clip, the analysis may take a long time (depending on the size of the clip). This approach ensures that, if you later adjust the video clip in and out points to show more of the clip, the new section will also be color-corrected. Note: If you subsequently analyze another scene in the same video clip, the analysis time will be very short.

VideoWave freezes when accessing files that came from a TiVo device

A fix for this problem is available on request. Please contact Roxio technical support.

Video files require transcoding

Some file formats require transcoding (conversion) before they can be used in VideoWave. When prompted to transcode a file, click OK to convert it.

.MOV files do not play in VideoWave or other Roxio components

Roxio components require QuickTime 7.04 to play .MOV files. To solve this problem, upgrade QuickTime on your computer.

Support of MPEG-4 (.MP4) video files is not included with VideoWave

To add support for these files for VideoWave, you must obtain and install a 3rd party MPEG-4 codec, such as QuickTime, 3ivx, DivX, or XviD.

VideoWave cannot access some media file types from a network location

WMV, ASF, WMA, and MP3 files cannot be added to CineMagic or accessed from VideoWave if the files are at a network location. If you want to use these file types in your VideoWave or CineMagic productions, copy them first to your computer and then add them.

VideoWave hangs during editing of DivX files

This error can occur if your display driver is not up-to-date. To resolve this problem, go to the manufacturer's Web site to obtain the latest display driver.

Trimming of high definition WMV files in Windows XP causes VideoWave to terminate. In Windows 2000, it causes an error

If this error occurs, install the WMV patch, available from Microsoft. For more information, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 888656 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;888656).

Blue Screen or Crash occurs while working with Windows Media Video content (WMV) files

This error occurs if your Graphics card supports DirectX Video Acceleration of WMV content, and your Windows Media Player software is not up-to-date. To make sure that your Windows Media Player software (version 10), is up-to-date, follow these steps:

  1. In Windows Media Player, choose Help > Check for Player Updates. Follow the instructions to install the updates.
  2. Install the update for Windows Media Digital Rights Management-enabled players. For more information, see http://www.support.microsoft.com/kb/891122/.
  3. Install the fix to enable DirectX Video Acceleration of Windows Media Video (WMV) content in Windows Media Player 10. For more information, see http://www.support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;888656.

Thumbnails in the Production Editor are not updated when photos or video clips are moved

If you move or rename a photo or video clip that is used in the currently open production, the thumbnails are not updated to show that the photo or video clip is missing, and the Tools > Browse for Missing Files command remains unavailable. After moving or renaming files, close the project, and re-open it. VideoWave will recognize that files are missing, and you will be able to Browse for Missing Files.
