Known issues

Audio files don't play on some MP3 players.

When recording audio, make sure that the quality settings for sampling rate and compression (bits per sample) are consistent. For example, if you combine high-quality compression (a bit rate of 16) with a low-quality sampling rate (8 kHz), or vice versa, the resulting audio file may not play on some MP3 players.
 

Easy Audio Capture must be added to the Sidebar in Windows Vista.

If you have Windows Vista, Easy Audio Capture is available as a Sidebar gadget. However, it is not automatically added to the Sidebar during installation.
 

To add Easy Audio Capture to the Sidebar:

  1. If the Sidebar is not open, click the Start button, type sidebar in the Search box, and then press Enter.
  2. In the Sidebar, click the plus (+) sign to add gadgets.
  3. Select the Easy Audio Creator gadget, and click Add.
     

Easy Audio Capture is not displayed correctly in the Vista Sidebar and is not functional when Vista User Account Control is switched off (Vista 64 bit versions only)

If you install Easy Audio Capture on a system running the 64-bit version of Windows Vista, the graphical user interface will not display properly and is not functional when User Account Control is disabled. Windows Vista has User Account Control enabled by default. Roxio is working on a solution for this problem.

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:

  • Enable User Account Control in Windows Vista. For more information about User Account Control and how to enable it visit www.microsoft.com .

    or
  • Re-install Easy Audio Capture by performing the following steps:
    1. Choose Start > Control Panel, click Programs, and then click Uninstall a Program.
    2. From the list of programs, select EMC Gadgets64 and then, on the toolbar, click Uninstall.
    3. Click Yes to confirm the uninstallation. If during the uninstall you are prompted to close applications, choose to automatically close the applications and click OK.
    4. Wait for the uninstallation to complete. If you are prompted whether to restart Windows, click Yes and wait for the Windows to restart.
    5. Insert the Easy Media Creator 10 installation disc. If the Autoplay dialog opens, click Open folder to view files. Otherwise, click Start, and in the Search box, type the drive letter type of the disc drive containing the installation disc. Then press Enter.
    6. Double-click the EMCGADGETS64_100 folder.
    7. Double-click EMCGadgets64.msi to launch the installer and follow the instructions to install the Gadget.
    8. After the installation is complete, open the Windows Sidebar and add the Gadget to the Sidebar again.
       

Sound card driver update may be needed.

You may need to update your sound card drivers to support the stereo mix or wave out features.To find out if updated drivers are available, visit your sound card manufacturer's Web site.
