Known issues

Audio files transferred to an iPod cannot be played.

When Audio/Video Converter transfers audio or video files to an iPod, it does not add them to the iPod database. Therefore, the files are not playable using the standard iPod user interface. A workaround is to choose Convert to Folder, convert the files to a folder on the hard disk, and then use iTunes to copy them to the iPod.

Audio/Video Converter gadget must be added to the Sidebar in Windows Vista.

If you have Windows Vista, the Audio/Video Converter is available as a Sidebar gadget. However, it is not automatically added to the Sidebar during installation.

To add the Audio/Video Converter to the Sidebar:

  1. If the Sidebar is not open, click the Start button, type "sidebar" in the Search box, and then press Enter.
  2. In the Sidebar, click the plus (+) sign to add gadgets.
  3. Select the Audio/Video Converter gadget, and click Add.

Audio/Video Converter is not displayed correctly in the Vista Sidebar and is not functional when Vista User Account Control is switched off (Vista 64 bit versions only)

If you install Audio/Video Converter on a system running the 64-bit version of Windows Vista, the graphical user interface will not display properly and is not functional when User Account Control is disabled. Windows Vista has User Account Control enabled by default. Roxio is working on a solution for this problem.

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:

  • Enable User Account Control in Windows Vista. For more information about User Account Control and how to enable it visit www.microsoft.com .

    or
  • Re-install Audio/Video Converter by performing the following steps:

    2. From the list of programs, select EMC Gadgets64 and then, on the toolbar, click Uninstall.
    3. Click Yes to confirm the uninstallation. If during the uninstall you are prompted to close applications, choose to automatically close the applications and click OK.
    4. Wait for the uninstallation to complete. If you are prompted whether to restart Windows, click Yes and wait for the Windows to restart.
    5. Insert the Easy Media Creator 10 installation disc. If the Autoplay dialog opens, click Open folder to view files. Otherwise, click Start, and in the Search box, type the drive letter type of the disc drive containing the installation disc. Then press Enter.
    6. Double-click the EMCGADGETS64_100 folder.
    7. Double-click EMCGadgets64.msi to launch the installer and follow the instructions to install the Gadget.
